What Arete Does
Arete Scholars awards need-based K-12 scholarships to children in under-resourced families across Georgia, empowering parents to choose the private school that best fits their child's gifts and learning needs. The average Arete family earns approximately $40,000 per year and 73% are led by a single parent. Your investment — through Georgia's zero-cost QEE tax credit — opens the door to a school where a child can discover what they are truly capable of. Make an investment today.
In Clayton County, nearly 1 in 6 families lives in poverty. For most of them, school choice is not a reality without a scholarship.
Across Georgia, two-thirds of third graders are not proficient in reading. The gap is even wider for students in low-income households, where up to 80% are not considered proficient by the end of third grade. Behind every statistic is a child full of potential who simply needs access to the right environment to reach it.
Unlike scholarship programs that simply place students in private schools, Arete walks alongside scholars through every stage of their development. Through Arete RISE, scholars receive academic and literacy tutoring, leadership and character development, college and career pathways, and family engagement support, from kindergarten through career.
Georgia Scholar: Elchonon
Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael · Georgia
For Mordy and his wife, raising seven children in Atlanta's Toco Hills neighborhood means making every decision through the lens of faith. When it came time to choose a school, nothing else would do. Five of their children now attend private, faith-based schools on Arete scholarships — a fact Mordy says changed the entire trajectory of his family.
Their oldest son Elchonon found his place at Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael, where he made the National Honor Society, built deep relationships with teachers, and discovered a passion for aerospace engineering. He is now preparing to study abroad in Israel before pursuing his dream of designing airplanes.
"Arete has been a godsend," Mordy says. "There's no way we would have been able to send our children to these schools without the scholarship. It gave us the power to choose what's best for our family, which is invaluable."
