Where Are They Now: Riley’s Dream to Give Back

Riley, a 2023 graduate of Archbishop Chapelle High School and an Arete Scholar, is now a junior at Southeastern Louisiana University pursuing a degree in history with plans to become a teacher. Inspired by the educators who guided her, she hopes to return to Chapelle before continuing on to earn her master’s and doctorate. From building lifelong friendships in high school to finding confidence through her sorority in college, Riley credits her scholarship with making her education possible and shaping the path she is on today.

When Jaclyn first heard about Crisp Academy, she never imagined it would be an option for her children. Living in Turner County, she assumed private school was out of reach until a friend told her about the Arete Scholars program. Skeptical but hopeful, she applied for the scholarship and was shocked when they were accepted. That moment changed everything. Moving from a public school to a Christian private school provided her children with a safe and nurturing environment in which they could grow academically, spiritually, and socially. When Vicky was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, her greatest fear wasn’t for herself—it was for her daughter, Regina. She wanted her to have more than just a good education; she wanted her to be shaped in character, faith, and resilience. After Vicky’s passing, her sister Rachele stepped in to raise Regina and keep that wish alive. Thanks to an Arete scholarship, Regina attends St. Scholastica Academy, where faith, support, and grit have helped her navigate deep grief while building the confidence and skills she’ll carry for life.
