Arete adds to executive team
The team at Arete Scholars is excited to announce Jason Paul Roberts as our new Vice President of Marketing and Communications! “Jason possesses a rare and remarkable range of skills and abilities that are critical to the growth of Arete Scholars,” says Arthur Dupre’, president of Arete Scholars. “Moreover, Jason is one of the most authentically passionate and purpose-driven people I have ever encountered. He lives our mission and exudes it in his daily actions.”
Prior to joining Arete Scholars, Jason led marketing and communications for a Colorado-based SGO and school choice advocacy organization. From 2005-2016, he served as president of a successful digital marketing company in Denver. Additionally, Jason has focused much of his professional and personal life on education and STEM, from leading the marketing efforts for a groundbreaking coding boot camp to mentoring children in economically disadvantaged families on photography and multimedia journalism.
As the newest member of the Arete Scholars executive team, Jason will oversee the development and execution of the organization’s marketing strategy, internal and external communications, and brand strategy. “I am honored to join such a knowledgeable and dedicated team,” says Jason. “The folks at Arete are committed to providing life-changing education to deserving children across Georgia and Louisiana, and I am excited to lend my skills to help expand the opportunities that they have been providing to the community for over a decade.”
Jason's commitment to education comes from the values instilled in him by his grandparents. His grandfather, a truck driver who worked multiple jobs to support the family, often stressed, "Don't work with your back like me, work with your head; get an education!" His grandfather's hard work and wisdom made a lasting impact on Jason. After high school, he worked his way through college as he earned a degree in art and music. Jason went on to study abroad under three internationally acclaimed Magnum photojournalists. In 2016, he returned to university to earn his second degree in multimedia journalism and contemporary social issues, with a focus on the media's impact on marginalized communities.
We look forward to working with Jason as we build the organization’s infrastructure to support the growing number of scholarships we award across Georgia and Louisiana. Please help us to welcome Jason to the Arete team!
