Chick-fil-A Foundation Funds New Scholarships
The Chick-fil-A Foundation announced today its recent donation to Arete Scholars Fund in Louisiana. The gift will provide K-12 scholarships and help disadvantaged children gain access to schools that better match their individual learning needs.
“Investing in young people is at the heart of our mission,” said Rodney Bullard, Vice President of Community Affairs at Chick-fil-A, Inc. and Executive Director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation. “We are proud to partner with educational organizations like Arete Scholars that share our vision for inspiring youth to reach their greatest potential.”
Given under Louisiana’s Tuition Donation Rebate Program, the Chick-fil-A gift will fund the education of more than a dozen students for an entire school year. The unique program allows Louisiana tax filers to contribute directly to the education of lower income school children. Donors receive a 95% cash rebate from the state once their contribution has been awarded to a student, paid to a school, and verified by the Department of Revenue.
“Arete offers an opportunity to leverage community investment in a way few programs do,” said Bullard. “The rebate will allow us to recycle our contribution and multiply its impact in the lives of children.”
The Tuition Donation Rebate Program was signed into law in 2012 in an effort to empower lower income Louisiana families and provide new educational opportunities for economically disadvantaged children. To be eligible, students must meet certain income and enrollment criteria. Scholarships may be used at any accredited and participating private school in Louisiana.
“It is a great privilege to have Chick-fil-A join us in our work to educate children in need,” said Derek Monjure, Executive Director of Arete Scholars Fund. “Few companies are as committed to community transformation and helping the underserved, and we are thankful for their generous support.”
“The big winners are the kids who will find new opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive,” said Monjure.
