For such a time as this
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress.” — Frederick Douglass
For nearly a decade, our partners have fought alongside us to provide life-giving educational opportunities to marginalized, oft-forgotten kids. There’s been real struggle — and real progress.
Lives and stories are changing. Families and communities are changing. Attitudes and narratives are changing.
But there’s much work that remains, and today we at Arete Scholars reaffirm those principles that drive us.
We believe in the inherent and equal dignity of every member of the human family.
We believe education is the bedrock of a diverse, civil, and thriving society.
We believe every child is created with unique gifts and deserves an opportunity to safely discover, cultivate, and use them.
We believe learning starts with open ears, eyes, and hearts.
We believe when the most marginalized flourish, we all do.
Moving into our second decade, our team remains committed to listening to those who speak and giving voice to those who have been stifled.
Please stand with us, and together let’s strive to be light in darkness.
