Spreading Joy and Kindness: Arete Toy Drive

The holiday season is a time for joy, wonder, and giving back; a time when hearts are warmed, not only by festive lights and songs but by the spirit of compassion and generosity. At Arete, we believe that the true magic of the season lies in bringing smiles to those who need it most. This year, we were honored to be part of that magic by delivering cheer to two incredible schools: Duluth Adventist Christian School in Duluth, GA, and St. Michael Special School in New Orleans, LA.

There’s something truly special about seeing a child’s eyes light up when they receive a gift. For some families, the holidays can be difficult, and the simple joy of receiving a present can mean more than words can express. It’s more than just a toy; it’s a symbol of hope, love, and the belief that they are seen and cherished.

Our Arete Toy Drive was created to ensure every child feels joy and connection during the holiday season. Through the collective kindness of our partners, employees, and community members, we gathered gifts and delivered them to these two remarkable schools. The smiles, laughter, and moments of pure delight we witnessed remind us why giving back is at the heart of everything we do.

The energy was evident at Duluth Adventist Christian School (DACS) in Duluth, GA, where we serve 40 students with an Arete scholarship. DACS exists to provide a spiritually oriented education for children, and works closely with F.R.E.E. to provide child refugees with the education and empowerment needed to transform their lives from victim to contributor.

As the students at DACS unwrapped their gifts, their excitement filled the room with contagious joy. Seeing these young faces light up with happiness was a powerful reminder of the impact of small gestures. This school nurtures young minds and hearts, and it was an honor for Arete to play a part in their holiday celebration. 

Our journey didn’t stop there. We also had the privilege of visiting St. Michael Special School in New Orleans, LA, a school that supports children and young adults with intellectual and developmental differences. The warmth and love that radiates from St. Michael’s are unparalleled. To see these incredible students experience the wonder of the season, their faces beaming with joy, was deeply moving. Their resilience, courage, and unique spirits inspire us to continue spreading kindness wherever we can. This year, we support 10 students with a scholarship and are encouraged to grow this support.

At Arete, our mission goes beyond scholarships; it’s about making a meaningful impact in our communities and standing together. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to support these wonderful schools and share a bit of holiday cheer with their students.
